ISSUE:
Error ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
Your Google Chrome browser times out if you try to connect to a non-secure HTTP or HTTPS site. Rebooting your modem or router generally solves issue and then you can connect.
ANSWER:
- Type the full website name, including the 'www' before the website address.
- You should also make sure you have both an IPv4 and IPv6 address.
If you only have an IPv6 address and the site only supports IPv4, you have an issue. IPv4 and IPv6 explained here. How to enable IPv6 here.
- If you are having trouble connecting to those sites, it is probably due to your router or device settings.
- Device examples: Your iPhone, computer, tablet etc. You should delete cookies and temporary internet browsing data on your device. Then reboot your device.
- If your device is a computer and is connected directly to the modem, we suggest you check your firewall and network settings.
For MB8600 owners:
The MB8600 is a BRIDGE MODEM (no routing capabilities - it just pulls an internet connection from your service provider).
If you move your MB8600 from one computer to another, you will have to power cycle the modem so that it can get an address for the new computer.
If you are using a wireless router, your problem may be due to the firewall and/or security settings.
Contact your router manufacturer for support on configuring firewall and/or security settings.

2. Clear Chrome browsing data:
Chrome saves your browsing data - cookies, app data, cache files, etc. which may cause Err_Connection_Timed_Out error.

After you click OK, close your browser completely. Reopen your browser and try to connect to the website again.
4. Flush DNS then renew your IP address
*This step has been successful to many users!
Open Run dialog box by pressing Win + R on your keyboard

Then Type cmd into the box and click OK.
Your Command Prompt window will open and you'll see a black screen. Type the following commands. You will hit ENTER after each command that you type (see screenshot below for example).

When you have typed in all 5 command lines, close the command prompt window.
You can click the "X" on the top right corner, or just type:
exit (then hit ENTER)
Restart your computer before you do anything.
After your computer reboots, try connecting to the site(s) and see if you can access it now.
5. Temporarily disable the Antivirus and Firewall on your computer:
- Antivirus
Sometimes Antivirus software prevents your computer from connecting to the internet or certain websites. If you disable it and try to visit a secure website like Google.com, you can see if your Antivirus is causing your error.
Steps will vary, depending on which Antivirus software you use.
Open Settings
Click on Update & Security
Click on Windows Defender
(Or, you can click on the search bar and type in: Windows defender)
If you see this - your computer is using a different Antivirus program.
If you are using Windows Defender, follow these instructions to temporarily turn it off:

Click on Windows Firewall
On the left side, click on "Turn Windows Firewall on or off"

Then click OK
If you see something like this, your Antivirus software is also controlling the Windows Firewall. You will need to configure these settings in your Antivirus software:
