IMPORTANT: MODEL MD1600 DOES NOT WORK WITH BONDED VDSL, BONDED ADSL, OR VDSL VECTORING.
(Please see below to determine which type of DSL service you have).
MD1600 is compatible with VDSL and ADSL service from the following, if the service is NOT: Bonded VDSL, Bonded ADSL, or Vectored VDSL service:
- CenturyLink
- Frontier
- Windstream
- TDS Telecom
- FairPoint
MD1600 is NOT compatible with:
- Verizon
- AT&T
- Comcast
- Charter Spectrum
- Cox
- Other Cable internet services
We recommend that you call your service provider and ask which type of DSL service you have. The Motorola MD1600 does not work if you have Bonded DSL service.
Here is how you can tell if your current DSL modem is using Bonded DSL:
Almost all DSL modems that support bonding will have 2 Link lights that indicate DSL bonding. These Link lights typically have names like DSL 1 and DSL 2 or Broadband1 and Broadband2 .
Some models will have 2 symbols to indicate DSL with the numbers 1 and 2 next to the symbol.
If both lights are on when you’re using the Internet, the modem is using bonding and the Motorola MD1600 will NOT be compatible.
If only 1 light is on when you’re using the Internet, your modem is not using bonding and the MD1600 should work.
The following products support Bonded DSL and have been used by service providers to provide both bonded and MB1600-compatible service.
*If the two Link lights are lit when any of the following products are using the Internet, then you will not be able to use the MD1600.

If you are using the Cisco DDR22000:
This modem supports ADSL bonding but does not have 2 lights on its front panel. To check if the modem is using bonding:
- Open your Internet browser
- In the address bar at the very top, type in: 168.1.254 [enter]
- The default login is: Username: user
Password: user - Click on the DSL tab, then select Summary
- If both the Outer Pair and Inner Pair columns show the status as Showtime, your line is using bonding. The MD1600 is not
Vectoring with CenturyLink
If you recently received notice from CenturyLink that your current modem will no longer work because of upgrades to the CenturyLink network, then the MD1600 will not work for you. This is because CenturyLink has upgraded your line to use VDSL with vectoring and only allows modems CenturyLink supplies to be installed on a line with vectoring.
