If you need to Port Forward on the MD1600, please follow the steps below.
Once the Power LED on the MD1600 has turned from Orange to Green, you will want to connect to the MD1600’s Configuration Manager. This can be done in two ways, if you have a laptop or a desktop computer with an ethernet port built in or an ethernet adapter, you can run an ethernet cable from that device to one of the yellow LAN ports (1-4) on the MD1600. Conversely, you can connect wirelessly from your laptop or tablet by connecting to the MD1600’s wireless network. The default network is listed on the bottom of the MD1600’s registration sticker, under Network name and Wireless password.
Once you connect to the MD1600 wired or wirelessly, you will want to open up your internet browser on your device, be it Safari, Edge, Chrome, Firefox etc. On the top portion of the browser window will be the address bar, that will have the https:// and www. information. You will want to highlight that address bar and erase all of the information in that line and then type 192.168.0.1, then press enter or Go. Please note this has to be typed in the address bar, not a search page, that will bring you multiple results rather than a direct page. If done correctly, this should bring you to a Welcome to Motorola page in blue.
The login credentials for this page is the word admin, all lower case, for the username and motorola, all lower case, for the password. Once logged in, select the Advanced button on the top right-hand side of the page.
On the left-hand side of the page, you should now see a submenu from here, select Advanced Setup.
Select NAT from the drop-down list.
Select Virtual Server and click Add
For the service, either select one from the provided list or select custom service and input your own
For the Server IP Address, you should enter the IP address of the device you are trying to forward to (gaming console, IP cameras, etc.)
Note: Do not enter the IP address of your MD1600 for the Local (forward to) IP Address. If you have entered 192.168.0.1 - it will not work. It must be the IP address of your LAN Destination device (gaming console, IP cameras, etc.)
In reading Left to Right the External Port Start and External Port End come first in the rule setup. These will be the packet DST ports incoming to the MD1600 WAN Interface that get forwarded through the MD1600 to your LAN device. The Internal Port Start and Internal Port End will autocomplete to be the same as the External unless you specify otherwise. Usually, they are the same. If the LAN Server is using different/non-standard ports or other servers on your LAN are using these ports then you can make them different. The Internal port numbers are what will appear on the LAN as the packet DST ports. The MD1600 will then convert from the Internal back to the External DST ports for all egress packets.
Select either TCP, UDP, or Both for the Protocol, if you need to know your protocols, you will need to get in touch with the manufacturer of your product.
Under Status select Enable and then Apply/Save
Follow the steps listed above for additional Port Forwarding Rules that need to be created
Power cycle the MD1600 along with the device that you just set up the rules for.
Note: If one of the Ports your product needs forwarding is Port 80 or you encounter an error: Port 80 is being used by broadband router HTTP server, please follow the steps below
From the Advanced settings, select Management > Access Control > Service Control and change the HTTP Port for both WAN and LAN from 80 to 100 (for example) and click Apply/Save.
Once that is all set, you want to log out of the Configuration Manager and then enter 192.168.0.1:100 (or whichever port you changed the 80 to) to access the Configuration Manager once again and then try to set up the Port Forwarding Rule for Port 80, as it should now be out of use and you should no longer see that error.
