*NOTE:  These instructions WILL work for the following Motorola models:  MG7540, MG7550, MG7700, MT7711

MG7700: First connection to the wireless network

Congratulations on your new MG7700!  To connect to your wireless network for the first time, you will first need to locate your wireless default settings.  The wireless default settings are located on the bottom label of your modem.  You are looking for the wireless network name (SSID) and password.

Since your MG7700 has a dual-band wireless router, you will see 2 networks: The 2.4G network and the 5G network.  The primary differences between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless frequencies are range and bandwidth. (The 5G band is faster, but doesn't reach as far as the 2.4G band.  The 2.4G might be a better option if you live in a large home with thick walls).

Once you connect to a band, you can always change to the other band whenever you want to.

Below the 2 network names, you will see your WIFI security key/password. Here it will list a 10-digit letter-number combination.  That is your wireless password.

Now that you have your network name and wireless password, you can go to your wireless devices and connect using that information.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE MY WIRELESS NAME AND PASSWORD?

Once you successfully connect to your wireless network, you can change the wireless network name (SSID) or wireless password.

To change the WIFI SSID or WIFI Password :

Login to your modem by opening an Internet browser on a device already connected to your wireless network. (We suggest using a device connected to your modem with an Ethernet cable, but not required).

In the Internet browser address field, type in:  192.168.0.1 (enter)
Username: admin
Password: motorola or the unique password printed on the label

You will see the "Basic Status and Settings" page.  You can change the WiFi network name and password for both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks.

Click Save when you are done.
