How to Upgrade Your MG8702 Gateway from MotoSync Legacy to MotoSync+
If you’re still using the MotoSync Legacy app with your MG8702 gateway, we strongly recommend upgrading to the new MotoSync+ experience. MotoSync+ offers improved performance, enhanced security features, and access to premium services.
✨ What Is MotoSync+?
MotoSync+ is the next-generation app and cloud platform for managing your Motorola network devices. With MotoSync+ you can:
- Monitor and manage your home network from anywhere.
- Set up parental controls and content filtering more easily.
- Access advanced security and performance features with MotoSync+ Premium.
📝 Step 1: Request Your MotoSync+ Upgrade
Upgrading from MotoSync Legacy to MotoSync+ requires an activation request. To start the upgrade process for your MG8702, please complete the official upgrade form:

After submitting the form, your request will be reviewed and processed. Once your upgrade is ready, you’ll receive instructions (typically via the email address you provided) to activate MotoSync+ on your MG8702.

📲 Step 2: Install the MotoSync+ App
When your upgrade is approved:
- Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your phone.
- Search for MotoSync+.
- Download and install the MotoSync+ app.
For best results, make sure your phone’s operating system is up to date before installing.
📡 Step 3: Prepare Your MG8702 for Activation
Before opening the MotoSync+ app, check the following:
- Your MG8702 is powered on and connected to the internet.
- Your phone is connected to your router’s main WiFi network.
- Any VPN on your phone is disabled during the upgrade and setup process.
Once everything is ready, open the MotoSync+ app.
🚀 Step 4: Activate MotoSync+ with Your MG8702
In the MotoSync+ app:
- Sign in using the same email address you used when completing the upgrade request form.
- Follow the on-screen steps to add or activate your MG8702 gateway.
- Complete the setup flow until the app confirms that your gateway is successfully linked.
After activation, all supported cloud and app features will be managed through MotoSync+ instead of the MotoSync Legacy app.
✅ After the Upgrade
Once your MG8702 is connected to MotoSync+ you can:
- View connected devices and manage access.
- Adjust WiFi settings through the app.
- Explore MotoSync+ Premium options for enhanced security and control.
You may no longer need the MotoSync Legacy app after the migration is complete, as ongoing management is done through MotoSync+.
